What we Do
MCWAP offers many services in the preventive and health promotion fields to realize its vision that no woman or child in Pakistan dies due to preventable causes. MCWAP offers these services at its Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Centers, which cater for definite population units residing within a delineated area. All MCWAP services are community-family based. For example, as mothers and mothers-in-law play a prominent role in the lifestyle and health status of women, they are engaged and encouraged to accompany their daughters and daughters-in-law to the service centers; family members’ presence at MCH Centers offers opportunities for creating meaningful understanding and appreciation of MCWAP’s services among families.
Diagnostic and primary level treatment facilities are also made available. Client referrals are made to other health service units when required. In case of needing hospitalization, beneficiaries are referred to appropriate health and hospital facilities.
MCWAP’s methodology is to offer a structured and step-by-step approach in providing its MCH services. MCWAP’s strategy is the following:
1. Identification
In each service area, a comprehensive door-to-door survey is carried out to identify all women and children who are in need of MCH services. Women of child-bearing age (pregnant, non-pregnant) and all infants and children under age five are identified. Their demographic details and family history are registered.
